Available Positions:

  • Daisy Hill: Your primary work location will be Daisy Hill Conservation Park
  • Ipswich: Your primary work location may be the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail or White Rock Conservation Park
  • Brisbane Central/North: Your primary work location may be Gap Creek Reserve, Samford Conservation Park or Bunyaville Conservation Park
  • Gold Coast: Your primary work location will be Nerang National Park

All positions have potential for travel to other locations (travel expenses covered). More locations may be available – please enquire with us.

Your Role:

  • Serve as an OpentraX Outdoor Adventure Therapist.
  • Conduct assessments, plan sessions/routes, and recommend effective behavioural strategies.
  • Foster community and connections among participants and the OpentraX team.
  • Mentor and support our participants in developing coping strategies and resilience.
  • Contribute to our program innovations and digital outreach.
  • Path to Full-Time: This unique role begins on a casual basis, offering you a special opportunity to showcase your passion for mountain biking and your talent in engaging clients. As you successfully build your participant base and demonstrate effective session leadership, the role has the potential to transition to full-time within 3-6 months.

 

Who We’re Looking For:

  • Degree in any of the following categories with professional body affiliation (e.g., ESSA, AASW).
    • Counselling
    • Psychology
    • Social-Work
    • Physiotherapy
    • Exercise Physiology
    • Occupational Therapy
    • Development Education
  • Experience in behavioural management, crisis intervention, and mentoring desirable.
  • Tech-savvy with excellent communication abilities.
  • Experience with NDIS participants is an asset; however, training will be provided.
  • A reliable vehicle with a 50mm square tow receiver (weight capacity to bear a bike rack & 4-5 bikes at a time)
  • Necessary credentials: driver’s license, Working with Children Check, First-Aid & CPR.
  • Current vaccination records, including COVID-19.
  • Availability for weekday afternoons (3-6 pm); Saturday availability highly advantageous.

 

Required Qualification:

Must be able to obtain a Mountain Biking Instructor qualification (PMBIA, AusCycling, BCIP) post-appointment (Intermediate Mountain Biking Skills required for this course).

Candidates have the option to cover the costs of this certification themselves, or OpentraX can fund these expenses upfront. If a candidate who opts for OpentraX to cover the costs leaves the company within 12 months, they will need to reimburse the company for these expenses.
